दीपावली है खुशियों का रौशन त्योहार

दीपों का त्योहार दीपावली केवल भारत ही नहीं बल्कि पूरे विश्व में किसी-न-किसी रुप में मनाया जाता हैं। हिन्दू धर्म के अलावा इस पर्व को सिख, बौध और जैन धर्म में भी हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाते है। दिवाली के कई सप्ताह पहले से ही लोग अपने घरों, दुकानों की साफ-सफाई में लग जाते हैं। दिवाली स्वच्छ्ता और प्रकाश का पर्व है इसलिए लोग अपने घर की सफ़ाई कर दिवाली की रात रंग-बिरंगे बल्बों और दीपों से सजाते हैं।

इस दिन लक्ष्मी-गणेश की पूजा की जाती है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि धन की लक्ष्मी अदभुत श्रृंगार करती हैं जिसकी चमक से पूरा संसार जगमगा उठता है। इस दिन घर की लक्ष्मी यानी गृहिणीयां सज-संवर कर बड़ों का आशीर्वाद लेकर पूजा करती हैं। ऐसा करने से घर में सुख-शान्ति आती है। ग्रिगेरियन कैलेण्डर के अनुसार यह पर्व अक्टूबर या नवम्बर महीने में मनाया जाता है। इस दिन रंगोली बनाने की भी परंपरा है।

दिवाली मनाने के पीछे कई कहानियां है। कहा जाता है जब चौदह वर्ष का वनवास समाप्त कर श्री राम अयोध्या आए तो अयोध्या वासियों ने उनके आने की खुशी मे घी के दिये जलाये थे। जैन धर्म के अनुसार चौबीसवें तीर्थंकर महावीर स्वामी का निर्वाण दिवस भी इसी दिन है। सिखों के लिये भी यह पर्व महत्वपूर्ण है। क्योंकि इस दिन ही अमृतसर में 1577 में स्वर्ण मंदिर का शिलान्यास हुआ था।

पंजाब में जन्मे स्वामी रामतीर्थ का जन्म व महाप्रयाण दोनों दिवाली के दिन ही हुआ था। उन्होंने दीपावली के दिन गंगा तट पर स्नान करते समय ओम कहते हुए समाधि ले ली थी। भारतीय संस्कृति के महान जननायक महर्षी दयानंद ने दिवाली के दिन ही अजमेर के निकट अवसान लिया था। उन्होनें आर्य समाज की स्थापना की थी। बादशाह जहांगीर भी दिवाली धूमधाम से मनाते थे। शाह आलम द्वितीय के समय समूचे शाही महल को दीपों से सजाया जाता था। लाल क़िले में आयोजित कार्यक्रमों मे हिन्दू-मुसलमान दोनों भाग लेते थे। मुगल वंश के अंतिम सम्राट बहादुर शाह जफ़र भी इसे मनाते थे। दीन- ए- इलाही के प्रवर्तक अकबर के शासनकाल में भी इस त्योहार को मनाया जाता था।

रोशनी के त्योहार दीपावली में बाजार में तरह-तरह के पटाखे मिलते हैं। आजकल बाजारों में दीपावली की सजावट के लिये टेराकोटा, सेन्टेड, फ़्लोटिंग दीप और जेल कैन्डल मिलते हैं। कलात्मक ढंग से बने भगवान गणेश की मूर्तियां भी लोगो को लुभाती हैं। फिल्म रिलीज के लिए दिवाली सबसे शुभ मुहूर्त माना जाता है। एक साथ चार- पांच फ़िल्में रिलीज की जाती है। दिवाली की रात जमकर आतिशबाज़ी की जाती है। इस दिन लोग मिठाइयों का भी खूब मजा लेते हैं। अंधकार पर प्रकाश के विजय का यह पर्व समाज में उल्लास, भाईचारे और प्रेम का संदेश देता है।

धनतेरस की परम्परा

धनतेरस दिवाली के दो दिन पहले त्रयोदशी को मनाया जाता है । इस दिन आयुर्वेद के जनक भगवान धनवन्तरी अमृत कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे। इसलिए धनतेरस के दिन नये बर्तन और घरेलू सामानों को खरीदने की परंपरा है।
हिन्दू शास्त्रों के अनुसार धनवन्तरी देवताओ के भी वैद्य माने जाते हैं। स्वास्थय और लम्बी आयु के बाद धन की बात आती है इसलिए इसे दिवाली के दो दिन पहले मनाने की प्रथा है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि धनतेरस के दिन यम का दीप घर के बाहर दक्षिण दिशा की ओर जलाने से अकाल म्रृत्यु नहीं होती है। कहीं-कहीं लोक मान्यता है कि धनिया के बीज को इस दिन खरीद कर दिवाली के बाद बाग-बगीचो मे लगाने से पैदावार में वृद्धि होती है।

इस प्रथा के पीछे एक लोक-कथा भी है एक समय की बात है कि हेम नाम के राजा को एक देव कृपा से एक पुत्र रत्न की प्राप्ति हुई। उसकी कुन्डली में योग था कि उसका विवाह अगर हुआ तो विवाह के चार दिन बाद हई उसकी मृत्यु निश्चित है। इस डर से राजा हेम ने उसे ऐसी जगह भेज दिया जहां स्त्रियो की परछाई भी नही पहुँच पाए पर अचानक ही एक दिन एक राजकुमारी उधर से गुजरी और दोनों एक दूसरे को देखकर मोहित हो गये और उनहोंने गन्धर्व विवाह कर लिया। विवाह के ठीक चार दिन बाद जब यमदूत राजकुमार के प्राण ले जाने लगे तो उसकी पत्नी का विलाप सुनकर उनका हृदय द्रवित हो गया। उसी समय यमदूत ने यमराज से पूछा कि महाराज अकाल मृत्यु से बचने का कोई उपाय है तो बताएं। तब यमराज ने बताया कि जो व्यक्ति कार्तिक मास के कृष्ण पक्ष मे त्रयोदशी के दिन घर के बाहर दक्षिण दिशा की ओर दिया जलाने से अकाल मृत्यु से मुक्ति मिल सकती है।

धनतेरस ने अब नया रुप ले लिया है लोग इस दिन को शुभ मानकर अपनी जेब के हिसाब से खरीददारी करते है। इस दिन झाड़ू खरीदने की भी परंपरा है। आजकल लोग धनतेरस के दिन सोने चांदी से लेकर जरुरत का सामान, घर और गाड़ी तक खरीदने लगे हैं ।

Workshop on Sting Journalism by Broadcasters Club of Indian

Sting Operation is a requirement of the present era to get rid of negativities in the society, but with caution and utmost objectivity. In a day-long workshop organized by the BROADCASTERS CLUB OF INDIA for media students, all experts of Sting Journalism were unanimous that ‘a sting operation must be in public interest with full preparation, justification and responsibility.’

At Delhi’s Gandhi Peace Foundation last week, the workshop on Sting Journalism was probably the first of its kind in which media students from 16 media institutes were exposed to theoretical, practical and legal aspects of Sting Journalism and Sting Operation. Stretched in five sessions, the workshop took off with overall analysis of the sting Journalism.

Opening the session, senior journalist and the Head of Journalism, Lingaiya University, Dr. Shyam Kashyab expressed that targeting leaders most of the time was not good. Rather its base should be broadened to other sections of the society too, he said.

Noted journalist Yashwant Deshmukh opined that now there was no scope for any further discussion whether sting operation should be carried out or not. It must be carried out for the benefit of the larger chunk of the society.

Veteran media person Mukesh Kumar drew everyone’s attention towards the limitations of sting operation and underlined the need of proper training of the sting operation.

The Chief Executive of TIMES OF INDIA FOUNDATION P.C. Pandey emphasized that students should learn the art and science of sting operation very carefully and appropriately.

The Executive President of the BCI Onkareshwar Pandey, moderating the session, advised them to develop deep understanding of the trade before applying that practically.

P.N.Singh, General Secretary of the Broadcasters Club Of India, briefed the house about the aims and objectives of the organization and advised the students to be focused, devoted and become a keen learner.

In the following sessions the media students were described to all possible aspects of Sting Journalism and Sting Operation. Famous TV anchor Manoj Raghuvanshi and former Dy. Director (News), India TV Anuranjan Jha, who himself had conducted a good number of sting operations, briefed about intricacies of sting operations.
Manoj Raghuvanshi said that now the governments were also encouraging sting operations in some states through ‘reward schemes.’ “Do genuine sting operations and get rewarded,” he said.

Anuranjan Jha, while showing clippings of sting operations, explained that along with other activities of the reporter, he should be at home in camera operation also.
The bureau Chief of Voice of India Jaipur Sripal Shaktawat, sharing his experiences about some big sting operations in Rajasthan, narrated how his team was caught while doing sting operation on Female Feticide.

Sanjeev Chauhan, who has already worked in so many channels, opined that sting operationa should be done with cool mind. There has to be a perfect balance between heart and mind. Lacking any one of them affects the operation adversely.
In 5th and concluding session, a good number of media personalities and media school heads gathered and shared their views. Prominent among them were Dean, Mass Communication and Journalism IMS Dr. Devesh Kishore, Head of Jagaran Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism J.K. Sharan, Prof. H.N. Gill from Khalsa College and Dr Shyam Sharan from Lingaiya Institute of Journalism.

Dr. Devesh Kishore, the Chief Guest of the session, shared his long experience in journalistic activities and media teaching and requested students to stick to media ethics and not to get carried away by glitz and glamour of modern day media.
Raghuvendra Mudgal of ‘Chain Se Sona Hai To Ab Jaag jao’ fame who also shared his first hand experience about the subject.

While moderating the session, P.N.Singh, Secretary General of BCI and Asstt. Director Programmes, Doordarshan, said that the organization has plans for bigger events in future which will have more number of media schools participating.

Rare manuscripts reserves found in Darbhanga Raj chest

Children Film Festival begins in Patna

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said there was immense talent in children and the state could regain its past glory if a congenial atmosphere was created for utilisation of their potentials.

After inaugurating four days' children's film festival organised here for the first time, Mr Kumar said the state could regain its past glory if congenial atmosphere was provided to them to tap their potentials as they had immense talents.

''Children would get benefits from exhibition of such films during the festival and it would help them in improving their personality,'' the chief minister said and appreciated the talents of children who presented cultural programme on the occasion.

A revolving fund of Rs 5 lakh would be created for promoting their talent and it would be made available from Chief Minister's relief fund, he informed.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said children film festival should be organised every year and film based on issues relating to children should be screened during such festival.

Rare manuscript reserves found in Darbhanga Raj chest

There was an uncanny excitement in the air and everyone present including state officials and media were expecting to lay hand on the documented heritage of celebrated Darbhanga Raj which was kept safely in a London’s Chubb Company made strong box of Maharajadhiraj Rameshwar Singh Raj Regional Archive, located at the administrative block of present L.N. Mishra University building.

Expectedly, after 28 years and following five-hours of continuous efforts when the chest was opened on Thursday, it revealed some of the best ever known and rare manuscripts and unknown papers of the India’s biggest zamindari rule during British period.

Under the watchful eyes of officials from Bihar State Archives and district administration, the chest threw open twelve volumes of 18th century manuscript of Akbarnama, written in black ink by Alauddin, original document on family lineage of Darbhanga Maharaj and letters written between the period of 1880-1900.

The chest also contained contract papers signed in 1862 between Darbhanga Raj and Birtish rule pertaining to governance of zamindari. It was duly maintained in the papers that Maharaja Lakshmeshwar Singh was a minor at the time of the death of his father and thus Darbhanga Raj would be placed under the Court of Wards.

Besides, original copy of ccopccitation which was bestowed to Maharaja Lakshmeshwar Singh as Grand Commander of the Order of British Empire by Queen Victoria was also found in the chest.

At prima facie all the documents looked maintained and safe and it is also expected that some other manuscripts from during the period of Mughal emperor Akbar which were penned with golden ink could also be in the iron box. In the strong box, another historical document of royal proclamation of Mughal King Alamgir Second was found.
It is widely felt that Darbhanga Raj had strong ties with the British Rule but, it was not averse to help out freedom fighters also as what the letters written to Congress leaders during the movement suggested which were retrieved from the chest.

Dr. Vijay Kumar, director of the state archive, said that scanning was being done and all the historical documents seemed to be well-protected.

“We are counting and tallying the documents with other sources as well to record them for further examination,” said he.

Historically, the Darbhanga Raj was the best managed estate at the time of the abolition of zamindari. It was a brain child of Emperor Akbar who called in Pt. Mahesh Thakur in circa 1595 and delegated him to govern over 4495 villages under 18 circles. The purpose was to maintain the revenue collection from the area which was badly managed at that time.
